The Fahrenheit scale, invented by German physicist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit (1686-1736), is based on 32 °F for the freezing point of water and 212 °F for the boiling point of water.

The Celsius scale, invented by Swedish Astronomer Anders Celsius (1701-1744), has 100 degrees between the freezing point at 0 °C and boiling point at 100 °C of pure water at sea level air pressure.

The Kelvin scale, invented by Lord William Thomson Kelvin (1824-1907), has 100 degree between the freezing point and boiling point like the celsius scale but starts at absolute zero.
